CRETE - GENERAL INFO
The specific geographical location of Crete, its climate, the variety and diversity of its natural treasures, and its unique cultural and historical heritage — the result of 9,000 years of an exciting course in time — are factors that contributed to the formation of a place that exudes a unique character.
Mountainous landscapes alternating with endless beaches and hidden coves, historical cities and picturesque coastal villages, Cretan gastronomy, customs and traditions, disarmingly friendly locals… Crete is one of the most charming destinations in Europe!

According to legends, Crete took its name from the Kourites, the vigilant guards of newborn Zeus, whom his mother Rea took when he was born, and together they hid in a cave on the island. The Kourites, children of the Cretan land and the first inhabitants of the island, were dedicated to the protection of little Zeus from the wrath of his father, Saturn. It is said that the sleepless guards, every time the baby cried, they would break out in a dance hitting their shields and feet on the ground so that the baby’s cry would not be heard.
Traces of this ancient myth still exist today, as modern Cretans guard their traditions with the same devotion and passion, and warmly welcome all visitors while they maintain the ancient Greek principle of hospitality, whose patron was Xenios Zeus.
